Christmas is approaching and love is in the air at Bay View Care Home. Supervising carer, Callie Derbyshire, is blissfully happy with new boyfriend, Rhys. The tree’s up, the lights are twinkling, and, with the Christmas Eve wedding of one of the residents, Iris, to look forward to, everything is perfect.
Well, almost.
Rhys’s ex has him at her beck and call, yet refuses to let Callie meet their baby daughter. Callie’s ex is intent on stirring up trouble. And Callie’s favourite resident, Rhys’s nanna, Ruby, hasn’t been her usual self since Iris announced her engagement.
Convinced that Ruby’s lonely, especially after discovering the truth about her lost love, Callie’s determined to give Ruby’s romantic story the happy ending it deserves. Ruby might be adamant that the past should be left in the past. But, when it comes to true love, surely a little well-meaning meddling and a Christmas wish or two can’t do any harm. After all, it’s never to late to let love in again. Or is it?
A heartwarming Christmas story of finding new love, and the courage to revisit a love that was lost long ago.

My review
I have so many wonderful things to say about this book that I don't quite know where to start. But I shall begin by saying Jessica Redland's writing style is so warm and inviting that I was instantly taken in by the story and introduced to such a lovely array of characters who played their parts with such style and charm that they all felt like old friends by the concluding pages. The characters at Bay View Care home, complete with quirks and attitude, added a sprinkling of joy to the storyline and provided a reminder that age is just a number and love can defy time which warmed my heart. The storyline was a smorgasbord of delightful twists and turns filled to the brim with drama and excitement. There certainly wasn't a dull moment to be had throughout the entire book.
Callie is a bright and bubbly ball of joy with a huge heart and an instantly likeable nature that is impossible not to love. Her caring attitude for everyone, even in the face of rejection, is an appealing quality and she really is a stand out character. Callie's relationship with Rhys sees plenty of trials and troubles throughout proving that the course of true love never did run smooth. This only worked to pique my interest to read on to ensure that love will win in the end for the pair who were destined to be together. For me the greatest triumph is Ruby, I instantly fell under her spell and my heart broke after hearing her life story. The well known saying 'if you love something set it free' came to mind and I felt that Ruby and her colourful life added a beautiful and poignant layer to the book.
Callie's Christmas Wish is a well written and instantly likeable book and I loved every single word. I highly recommend a visit to Bay View Care Home to meet Callie and her friend's, you will not be disappointed. This is a heartwarming read full of love that defies time and circumstance.
Author Bio –
Jessica had never considered writing as a career until a former manager kept telling her that her business reports read more like stories and she should write a book. She loved writing but had no plot ideas. Then something happened to her that prompted the premise for her debut novel, Searching for Steven. She put fingers to keyboard and soon realised she had a trilogy and a novella.
She lives on the stunning North Yorkshire Coast — the inspiration for the settings in her books — with her husband, daughter, cat, Sprocker Spaniel, and an ever-growing collection of collectable teddy bears. Although if the dog has her way, the collection will be reduced to a pile of stuffing and chewed limbs!
Her passion for North Yorkshire is shared by fellow-writer and great friend, Sharon Booth and, together, they are the Yorkshire Rose Writers.
Jessica tries to balance her time — often unsuccessfully — between being an HR tutor, trying to re-learn how to play the piano, studying towards a Masters in Creative Writing, and writing itself. Who needs sleep?
