My review
Christmas at Black Cherry Retreat is by no means your average festive rom-com in the slightest. It's a multi-layered story that takes on several deep and dark moments that are not normally featured in a Christmas tale creating a brave and honest story.
Tom and Fee are flawed characters who have been through exceptionally difficult times in their lives which I appreciated and felt empathy for. But I have to say that I did find it difficult to warm to them. I think this may have been because I fell head over heels in love with the Chamber's family, especially Mee Mar and her delicious cakes. So unfortunately our hero and heroine didn't stand a chance. The Chamber's clan had larger than life love to give which burst straight off the pages, stealing the limelight and the heart of this book. But not every protagonist has to carry the heart and soul of a story and I felt this added to the deep-layered meaning that this book had to offer.
If you're looking for something a bit different this festive period then look no further than Christmas at Black Cherry Retreat. It's filled with love and lost love, new beginnings and family.
