About the book....
Years ago, the Duke of Greyland gave his heart—and a princely sum of money—to a charming, destitute widow with unparalleled beauty. After one passionate night, she slipped from his bed and vanished without a trace. And just when he’s given up hope of ever seeing her again, Greyland finds her managing a gaming hell. He’s desperate to have her… until he discovers everything about his long-lost lover was a lie.
In truth, Cassandra Blake grew up on the streets, picking pockets to survive. Greyland was a mark—to be fleeced and forgotten—but her feelings for the duke became all too real. Once he learns of her deception, however, the heat in his eyes turns to ice. When her business partner absconds with the gaming hell proceeds—leaving unsavory investors out for blood—Cassandra must beg the man she betrayed for help.
Greyland wants compensation, too, and he’ll assist her under one condition: she doesn’t leave his sight until her debts are paid. But it’s not long before the real Cassandra—the smart, streetwise criminal—is stealing his heart all over again.

My review....

The time is 1817, the place is London and the atmosphere is electric. I was expecting a Jane Austen style sweet and witty romance, but what I received was a vibrant story full of life, where the women know their own mind and the patriarchal suppression is not heavily weighed down. This story was indeed a breath of fresh air.

Alexander Lewis, the Duke of Greyland is everything I was expecting from a Mills and Boon hero. He was dashing and distinguished but rather than remaining a stereotypical flat character, he broke the, regency romantic lead, mould and dared to show an alternative side. This came in the form of going against the grain of what was expected of a Duke, especially in the eyes of his father.

Cassandra was an all round shinning star in this story. Her back story read of extremely rough times stemming from a difficult childhood which resulted in a woman full of gumption through a need to survive. I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing these protective, survival layers slowly start to peel away as the story played on to reveal the caring, loving and loyal Cassandra we see in the concluding pages.

I loved the colourful delights of London's secret night life, where anything is possible and people can be who ever they want to be. Intrigued?......you'll have to read the book to find out.

From Duke Till Dawn is a romantic story at heart with a swoon worthy hero, a witty and tenacious heroine armed with guts and charm and a story line that delights at every turn. What more could you possibly want?

About the book....
For a shameless libertine and a wily smuggler in the London Underground, marriage is more than convenience—it’s strategy . . .
Christopher “Kit” Ellingsworth, war veteran and newly minted Earl of Blakemere, buries his demons under every sort of pleasure and vice. His scandalous ways have all but emptied his cofferus . . . until a wealthy mentor leaves him a sizeable fortune. The only stipulation? He must marry within one month to inherit the money. Kit needs a bride and the bold, mysterious Miss Tamsyn Pearce seems perfect.
Husband hunting isn’t Tamsyn’s top priority—she’s in London to sell her new shipment of illicit goods—but she’s desperate for funds . When a handsome earl offers to wed her and send her back to Cornwall with a hefty allowance, Tamsyn agrees.
But when an unexpected proviso in the will grants Tamsyn control of the inheritance, their arrangement becomes anything but convenient. Now, Kit’s counting on his countess to make his wildest dreams a reality and he plans to convince her, one pleasurable seduction at a time…

My review....

This is the second book in The Scandalous Ladies of London series and another roaring success in my opinion. What I particularly love about Eva's work is the fact that characters don't conform to the stereotypical norms of society that we have been browbeaten into believing. Eva recently stated in an interview on Scribbler Maxi's blog 'History is full of people of colour. LGBTQ+ people, disabled people and people who believed in the equality between the sexes. Just because the BBC shows you a world comprised entirely of white, able-bodied heterosexuals doesn't mean that's what the past was really like.' (Read the full interview on www.scribblermaxi.co.uk) These refreshing thoughts are certainly embedded into Eva's work making her novels well researched, colourful and entertaining to say the least.

Counting on a Countess is filled to the brim with passion, vanquish and love. The situation Kit Ellingsworth finds himself in is bemusing and sets the book up perfectly. I won't dive into too many details as I believe it is better to let the plot unfold in the way the author intends it to. But I particularly enjoyed the chemistry and games created between Kit and his new bride Tamsyn Pearce. Tamsyn is another strong female in Eva's arsenal of powerful women.

This book is another enigmatic story that is a joy to read. Although they form a series they can be read as stand alone novels but they're too addictive and stopping at one will prove a difficulty. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time being immersed into regency society and meeting many vibrant characters and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
